DE KLERK & VAN GEND aims to attract high calibre law graduates, and therefore undertakes the selection of candidate attorneys with extreme care. The past has proven that a large number of candidate attorneys stay on with the firm to develop a career for themselves at DE KLERK & VAN GEND.
Although good academic results are important, we consider the applicant's overall credentials and place high value on a number of characteristics that reflect the ethos at the firm, such as leadership potential, integrity, honesty, diligence, motivation and vision. In order to reach our transformation goals, we place emphasis on employing candidates from previously disadvantaged groups.
As we strive to employ happy, balanced individuals, we also take into account applicants’ extra-curricular activities and achievements. A passion for the practice of law is, of course, a prerequisite.
Candidate attorneys can expect to gain experience in various fields of law, providing legal services to our broad base of clients, which range from large corporates and public bodies to ordinary individuals.
Professional assistants
Specialists in all main areas of law are employed at the firm. We currently have attorneys who specialise in commercial law, insolvency law, labour law, sports law, electronic law, marriage law, water law, property law, conveyancing, commercial property law, trusts, estates and in many other areas.
Black Economic Empowerment
DE KLERK & VAN GEND is committed to the implementation of the provisions of the Employment Equity Act and the empowerment of persons from designated groups. Our goal is that the firm's staff component should accurately reflect the real demographics of the Western Cape. The firm is determined to empower persons from designated groups to be part of the ownership of the firm and, being a specialist service provider, has undertaken to empower from within.
Training
Investment in human resources is essential for the success of any business, and DE KLERK & VAN GEND believes that this is even more true of the legal profession. We continuously empower our employees through education and advancement, and in so doing, ensure that we continue to provide an efficient and reliable service to our clients.
