David was educated at St. Andrew's College, Grahamstown, Rhodes University (BA) and the University of Stellenbosch (LL.B). He was admitted as an Attorney and Conveyancer in 1982.
David was a partner in a large firm for 8 years and ran his own practice for 6 years, before joining De Klerk & Van Gend as a Director in 2002.
David oversees the firm's Property Law and Conveyancing Department from the Cape Town branch and specialises in all aspects of property law, contracts, trusts and estates.
David is a long-standing member of the Cape Law Society’s Property Law Committee and Taxation Committee and serves as a Commissioner of the Small Claims Court.
He plays golf and league squash and is an Honarary Vice-President of Villager Squash Club, which he served as Chairman. He is a contributor to the Business Blue-Book of South Africa
