Hennie was born in Kroonstad in the Free State and matriculated at Bellville High. He obtained his B.Com. LL.B. Degree from the University of Stellenbosch and joined the SAPS as a Legal Advisor.

Hennie joined DE KLERK & VAN GEND as a Candidate Attorney in 1990 and, on his admission as an Attorney in 1992, became a Professional Assistant. He was appointed as a Director of the firm on 1 March 1997.

Hennie is based at the Cape Town branch in the conveyancing department and he specialises in correspondent conveyancing, property developments on behalf of various developers, registration of bonds, all aspects of sectional titles, consolidations, bonds and general conveyancing.
